Who Is the Rev. Rob Szo
The Rev. Robert SzoRob Szo - Assistant Pastor, Church of the Resurrection

Associate Priest,

Church of the Resurrection

Rob was born and raised in Fredericton, NB. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1987, Wycliffe College in 1996 and was ordained that same year. Following ordination he served in Anglican parish ministry in Moncton, Campbellford and Oshawa.

In 2003 Rob joined the staff of Scripture Union in the area of Program Development. In June 2005 the Board chose him as President to oversee the work in Canada, which he continues today. He is married to Christine Malmberg and they have two children, Marianne and Timothy. Rob’s interests include baseball, music, reading, and his favourite hobby, playing guitar.

Rob began to follow Christ in his early 20’s and has come to depend on the regular habit of Bible reading and prayer as a necessary step to spiritual maturity. Rob has served as an Honourary Assistant at the Church of the Resurrection in Toronto since soon after joining the Rez in 2004.  He has a particular interest in small group ministry and seeing people equipped and encouraged to serve Jesus in a hurting world. He is very interested in helping to implement the cell church principles we have all been learning at the Rez.

“These principles will help non-churched people become part of Christ’s body, which is a crucial part of the work we are called to. My passions for ministry are: encouraging all ages to meet Christ through Scripture and equipping them to follow Jesus through life…Lay people are the key to reaching those who don’t yet follow Jesus, so I am committed to helping them discover and use their gifts for evangelism and discipleship.”
